METHODS OF TEACHING

The teaching in Derzhavin Institute is based on the communicative approach that means:

  • students learn to use different speech patens that they see in authentic texts and learning situation,
  • grammar samples are also takes from authentic texts, the grammar acquisition is realized in three stages: presentation (on the bases of the texts), practice (language exercises) and control (interaction and communication in the group),
  • academic situations are close to the real-life situations

We also imply such methods as audiovisual, audiolingual, situational, etc. The variety of methods serves to integrate all the language skills (speaking, listening, reading, and writing) enabling the students to comprehend and produce different types of texts.
