1. The Bridge of Kisses
The Potseluev Bridge is a bridge across the Moika River, near the Mariinsky Theater. It owes its name to the 18th century merchant Potseluev who ran a tavern nearby called “Potselui” (a kiss). Tradition has it that newlyweds should kiss when crossing the bridge in order to have a long and happy family life.
2. The St. Isaac Cathedral Colonnade
What’s more romantic than a breathtaking view over Russia’s very own city of love? From the height of almost 50 meters you will be able to see every major landmark in the city, including the Palace Square, the Peter and Paul Fortress, the Admiralty and the Neva River.
3. Summer Garden
One of the most romantic places in Saint Petersburg has to be the Summer Garden. Its magical and poetic atmosphere will take you back to Peter the Great’s time as you walk past the beautiful marble sculptures and fountains. It seems the perfect place to take a stroll hand in hand with your significant other and maybe steal a kiss or two!
4. Kryukov Canal
For all of you lovers of sunset strolls, this lesser-known route is ideal to take a long walk with your special someone while passing by some of the main city’s sights along the Moika and Fontanka rivers. The peaceful and picturesque atmosphere will definitely make you fall in love with Saint Petersburg even more.
5. Winter Canal
This tiny canal connecting the Moyka and Neva river near the Winter Palace is believed to be one of the most romantic spots in the city. It owes its magical atmosphere to the two almost symmetrical stone bridges, the Hermitage gallery and the Hermitage Bridge. It’s an absolute must-see!
