The World Travel Awards – or the « Oscars of tourism » – recently announced this year’s winners in a wide range of categories, and Saint Petersburg was awarded three of the ceremony’s most coveted prizes:
World’s Leading City Destination 2017
World’s Leading Cultural City Destination 2017
Europe’s Leading City Destination 2017
This is the second year in a row that Saint Petersburg was named World’s Leading City Destination, this year winning against fellow nominees New York City, Rio de Janeiro, Paris, and Dubai, among others. In the category of World’s Leading Cultural City Destination 2017, it beat out tough competition such as Rome, Beijing, London and Sydney.
Saint Petersburg was also nominated for following awards:
World’s Leading Business Travel Destination 2017
World’s Leading City Tourist Board 2017
Europe’s Leading City Break Destination 2017
Europe’s Leading City Tourist Board 2017
Europe’s Leading Cruise Destination 2017
The Russian airline Aeroflot also took home three awards:
World’s Leading Airline Brand 2017,
Europe’s Leading Airline – Business Class 2017,
Europe’s Leading Airline Brand 2017.
